Challenge

KPMG opened their massive Lakehouse campus in Orlando with the intent of bringing together interns, team members, and colleagues from around the globe for training and team building. The facility is meant as an all inclusive business retreat, complete with an 800 room hotel built into it. But when you are a global company with such a large employee network, how do you build community and shared identity while experiencing Lakehouse with unfamiliar colleagues?

Solution

In partnership with our good friends at Ideum, we developed a series of three LED experiences both meant to provide opportunity for strangers to interact with each other and to be inspired by the suggestions and ambitionds of their peers.

The centerpiece is The Community Table. It is a 20' interactive table with an experience based on the ecological flow of the nearby Lake Nona. Schools of fish swim freely, the banks consistently evolve and erode, and visitors can leave prompt responses that populate as droplets joining the larger lake, symbolizing the understanding that they are but a small part of a much larger body.

The droplets are then recycled on 18' vertical banners that guests pass on their way to different meeting rooms. Coming and going from meetings, guests can find inspiration in the responses of their peers.

Finally, for the Halos, we desiged a custom font based on the handwriting of KPMG founders, built a custom CMS that constantly updates with the names of active attendees, and their names are traced out in the founders font, drawing a cultural line between to founding of KPMG 100+ years ago and the present.
